Dairygold sets 2012 Bean contract price

Dairygold sets 2012 Bean contract price

3rd February 2021

Dairygold today announced a minimum contract price of €240/t (at 20% moisture content) for beans for the 2021 season.

Dairygold’s Head of Agri Business, Liam O’Flaherty, said he hoped the price would demonstrate Dairygold’s ongoing commitment to native grain and supporting its tillage farmers.

Each year Dairygold has an intake of approximately 100,000 tonnes of Irish grain which is grown locally by its suppliers.  Much of the grain supplied is incorporated into the company’s feed ranges, which are produced at Dairygold’s Lombardstown Mill in Mallow, Co. Cork.

“Supporting our growers with a strong price is a priority for Dairygold. It reinforces our commitment to Irish tillage farmers, which is at the heart of our ethos here in Dairygold. One leg of our sustainability strategy involves buying locally produced grain for our rations formulated in Lombardstown for our dairy and beef farmers,” explained Liam O’Flaherty.

Two years ago, Dairygold launched ‘Gold Farm Beef’. This beef feed, which is made from only Irish ingredients, has become popular with Dairygold farmers and is a great example of a fully integrated supply chain with a low carbon footprint.  The feed is available in a cube and a ration.

At the time of the launch, Dairygold’s Tillage and Beef Manager Liam Leahy said: “We want to support  the tillage industry as much as possible, not just by paying leading  prices, but also by promoting home-produced feeds from native grains.”
