Dairygold 2023 Member Upskilling Programme Graduates

12th December 2023

Dairygold hosted a graduation ceremony for the participants of the 2023 Dairygold Member Up-Skilling Programme on 22nd November 2023 in Springfort Hall Hotel, Mallow, in recognition of their successful completion of the programme. Guest Speaker on the night was Mr. Damien O’Reilly, ICOS European Affairs and Communications Manager.

The 2023 graduates were presented with their programme certificates by Mr. Conor Galvin, Dairygold Chief Executive and Mr. Seán O’Brien, Dairygold Chairman.

The Dairygold Member Up-Skilling Programme provides Members with the opportunity to enhance their business knowledge, develop their personal business skills and increase their understanding of the Dairy Industry, Dairy Markets and Agricultural Policy. It also affords participants the opportunity to learn more about Dairygold, its operations and governance structures. The Programme is accredited by ICOS Skillnet and qualifies participants for admission as Members of the Plunkett Institute.

The 2023 Programme ran over 6 days in the Autumn, commencing on 16th August and concluding on 22nd November 2023, with modules delivered by Dairygold Senior Leadership and Senior Management Personnel, ICOS Executives and Industry professionals, addressing the following content:

  • Dairygold Overview
  • Dairy Industry – Ireland and Global
  • Agricultural Policy
  • Corporate Governance and Structures
  • Financing the Farm Business and the Organisation
  • Sales, Marketing and Innovation
  • Sustainability
  • Leadership and Strategy

The Dairygold Member Up-Skilling Programme is open to all Members of the Society, including those within the elected Dairygold Representative Structure. The Programme is also open to the immediate family member (e.g. spouse, son, daughter) of an existing Society Member who may be interested in becoming a Society Member and or Member of the Dairygold Representative Structure themselves, which facilitates succession planning.

From a diversity, equity and inclusion perspective, Dairygold also encourages increased female participation in this programme. Per the Society Rules, completing this programme is a mandatory prerequisite for any General Committee Member interested in contesting a Board election, as this training programme qualifies as ‘Board Eligibility Training’.

The Dairygold Member Up-Skilling Programme will run again in 2024. We encourage those interested in participating in the 2024 programme to contact the Group Company Secretary’s Office on 025-44069 as places will be limited. Further information on the 2024 programme will follow in due course.
