  • General Operative, Lombardstown, Mallow

    The Society wishes to invite applications for the role of General Operative. Applications are invited from energetic and ambitious persons who wish to be part of a professional team that is committed to the delivery of the highest quality service.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for optimising and maintaining milling operations and systems to ensure maximum production, quantity and quality while supporting the quality goals and objectives of Lombardstown Mill. The General Operative will also take responsibility in their role in maintaining the plant, CI and 5S, process control, participate in meetings, development and improvement activities in line with business objectives of Lombardstown Mill. Develop a strong working relationship with production staff and maintenance staff in the delivery of improvements and efficiencies.

    Reporting to the Production Manager and based in Lombardstown, Mallow, Co. Cork, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Participate in grain operations on site including intake, treatment, drying and loading of grain at harvest time to the required specification.Carry out bulk and bag loading duties as required.
    • Assisting the production and maintenance staff.
    • Active participation and meaningful engagement in continuous improvement activities and meetings including 5S implementation and auditing, work groups, PSE / RCA, AMIS etc.
    • Operate permits controls i.e. isolation, hotwork, confined space and heights in accordance with required standards.
    • Accurate checks of stock levels.
    • General hygiene and cleaning duties.
    • Adherence to Quality and safety standards on site.
    • Any other adhoc duties as requested.

    Candidates for this position should have:

    • Ability to work well and contribute in a cross functional and changing environment.
    • Forklift / Loader driving and or yard/ warehousing experience is desirable.
    • Relevant experience in a food manufacturing/Milling facility is essential.

  • Maintenance Fitter/Dairygold Agri-Business/Lombardstown

    Dairygold Quality Feeds is pleased to invite applications for the position of Maintenance Fitter. Reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager and based in Lombardstown the Maintenance Fitter will work closely with the existing maintenance team to maintain the plant and ensure that plant down-time is minimised and plant throughput is maximised. The Maintenance Fitter will also be responsible for ensuring that the plant complies with all mechanical standards.

    Responsibilities for this role include the following:

    • Respond to plant downtime to ensure any contributory mechanical faults are resolved in a timely manner to ensure that the plant can maximise throughput;
    • Responsible for repairing damaged equipment;
    • Input details of work completed on a daily basis into CMS;
    • Accurate recording of activity completed on the computer maintenance system (currently IGMS);
    • Interrogate, fault find and resolve any problems that are shown on any of the following equipment:
      • Intake, weighing, grinding, conveying, elevators, press lines, bag weighing, palletizers, weighbridges, compressors, gas steam boilers, grain dryer, silos, aeration, plumbing;
      • Statec-Binder packaging equipment, union special stitchers, saxon heat sealers;
      • Variable speed drives, flowmeters, steam controls, valves, pumps, fans, filters dry and wet;
    • Fault finding and problem solve issues with compressed air equipment, Boilers/ boiler control systems and steam systems;
    • Welding, turning, milling, pipe fitting, hydraulics & pneumatics, overhaul of gearboxes/pumps, installation of plant;
    • Active participation in and close out of assigned tasks associated with annual overhaul to ensure all plant equipment is maintained and repaired as good as new;
    • Active participation and meaningful engagement in continuous improvement activities and meetings including but not limited to – 5S implementation and auditing, work groups, PSE / RCA, AMIS etc.
    • Repair and overhaul of all plant & equipment as required;
    • Adherence to Quality and food safety standards on site;

    Applicants for the position will:

    • Be a fully Qualified Fitter with the ability to work in a Factory, Office and Laboratory environment;

    • Be flexible and willing to cover a 24/7 shift pattern either on shift or call basis;
    • Have a full clean driving license high;

  • Engineering Manager, Food Ingredients Division, Leeds, United Kingdom

    As the number one cheese ingredient solutions supplier to the UK’s major food manufacturers, retailers and food service customers DFI UK have achieved rapid, double digit growth over the last five years and have ambitious plans for this to continue.

    DFI Leeds is a highly automated manufacturing facility producing 9,000t soft and cultured dairy products annually. With a sophisticated SCADA operating system and significant investment into our plant machinery, robust engineering support is vital to minimise downtime, enhance performance and improve efficiencies. We pride ourselves on our BRC A Grade and ISO 14001 standards which we retain through maintenance of our site policies and strict adherence to Health & Safety requirements.

    To drive this engineering support and continue to develop our high standards, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager. Reporting into the Operations Manager, this role will manage the Engineering team to ensure that building, plant and equipment is serviced, maintained and operationally safe. The role holder will be a key member of the site management team, with full accountability for the site’s facilities and Health & Safety standards including control of contractors and permits to work.

    Key Responsibilities will include:

    • Develop and implement a PPM schedule to ensure all plant and equipment is fit for purpose
    • Develop and drive a programme of TPM that supports efficiency gains and up-skills colleagues
    • Monitor and manage daily priorities of team of Shift Engineers
    • Monitor and ensure breakdown issues are resolved as quickly and cost effectively as possible
    • Record all weekly downtime, monitoring machine issues and closing out corrective actions
    • Control contractors, completing permits and observing insurance and H&S requirements
    • Maintain, update and communicate relevant Engineering policies and procedures
    • Forecast annual budget for engineering and manage activity and stock levels within budget Work closely with Shift Engineers and production to support with machine training
    • Support capital investment projects and project manage defined projects as required
    • Continually assess and identify improvement initiatives to support engineering development

    Who are we looking for?

    You will have significant post apprenticeship experience, ideally gained in food manufacturing and supported by BTEC or C&G qualification in an appropriate discipline (Electrical Systems, Electrical Control, Faultfinding and Mechanical Engineering). You’ll also have experience of developing a programme of TPM and will be able to demonstrate an understanding of lean manufacturing and CI.

    A clear and professional communicator with experience of successfully managing a shift team, you will be proactive in upskilling colleagues to optimise machine performance. You will demonstrate enthusiasm and forward planning skills with a drive to resolve problems quickly and efficiently. With a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, you’ll be comfortable recording and analysing data to present to peers and senior colleagues to drive improvements on site.
