Appointments to Dairygold Board

Dairygold Co-operative Society confirms the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors. Mr Dan Flinter, the former Enterprise Ireland chief executive, has been co-opted to fill one of the two independent director positions while Mr Edmund Lynch, Mr Richard Hinchion and Mr Liam Foley were elected to the Board following rotational elections in recent weeks.

The appointment of Mr Flinter follows on the retirement of Mr Adrian Burke, a former managing partner of accountancy firm Arthur Andesen, who has completed his six-year term as director. Mr Flinter, who completed his term as CEO of Enterprise Ireland in 2003, serves on the boards of a number of Irish companies in a variety of capacities. In his public service career he also held senior management positions in IDA Ireland and Forbairt.

Meanwhile, Mr Edmund Lynch will fill the position formerly held by Mr Flor Riordan, for Dairygold’s East Cork region.  Mr Lynch is a dairy farmer from Ladysbridge in East Cork. He has been a member of the Dairygold General Committee for a number of years representing members in the Mogeely region.

Mr Richard Hinchion was elected from the Mid-Cork Region and succeeds Patrick Healy who is retiring, having served four years on the Board as Vice Chairman in 2011. Mr Hinchion, a dairy farmer from Crookstown, is a former County Chairman and National Vice Chairman of Macra.

Mr Liam Foley from Donoughmore was elected by the General Committee to fill the seat vacated by outgoing Chairman Vincent Buckley. Mr Buckley is retiring from the Board in accordance with the Rules of the Society having served the permitted two five-year terms on the Board. Mr Foley is a former member of the Dairygold Board and an IFA National Dairy Committee Chairman and has served on the Irish Dairy Board.
